Developed by the American Medical Association, CitizenReady seeks to enable individual citizens to play a more effective role in local pandemic planning and response. Our goal is to disseminate community training and pandemic continuity in conjunction with taking part in volunteer organizations. Citizens will be encouraged to develop a “citizen responder” state of mind by thinking about how they might react in a true pandemic. This includes the importance of developing and exercising personal, workplace, school, and community emergency plans. Emphasis will be placed on the need to establish a positive sense of control and empowerment during a crisis.

With the training I received, I was able to share the knowledge with those individuals responsible for patient and employee safety, which heightened community awareness.
