Instructor

John Hamilton is employed as a state trooper for the Department of Public Safety, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, where he has served as a leader and instructor throughout much of his law enforcement career. Currently, Hamilton is assigned to the Bomb Squad and Tactical Team. Since joining the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1984, Mr. Hamilton has also served as a bomb technician, firearms instructor, underwater explosives recovery specialist, air assault rappel master, scuba diver and an incident command and volunteer firefighter. Hamilton is also accredited in defensive tactics and hazardous materials operations.

Hamilton graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He has received numerous awards, including the I.A.C.P. State and Provincial Police Award, Trooper of the Year for the Southern Region in 2000 and Oklahoma State Trooper of the Year in 1999, as well as two Medals of Valor, two Purple Hearts, and one Governor’s citation.

At NCBRT, Hamilton is certified to teach tactical operations courses.
